Our story
A community team with a medical centre at its core, built to shape young people through discipline, health and football.

Origin
Nurtured by Piwan Medical Centre
The club came out of an idea from the administration of Piwan Medical Centre: to nurture young youth and children through football, strengthening teamwork, respect and discipline, and shaping behaviour that fits into community settings — together with a strong work ethic.
Piwan FC is derived from the Medical Centre, situated opposite Christ Church in Gulu City. That relationship is not incidental — it is the reason the club exists and the reason it keeps growing.
Mission
Regular training, friendly matches, real growth
We provide children and youth with regular football training sessions and friendly matches that support both football performance and personal growth.
Teamwork & respect
Players learn to rely on each other and to respect opponents, coaches and officials.
Discipline
Structure, punctuality and a strong work ethic, carried into everyday life.
Health
Consistent physical activity that keeps young players fit and well.
History
How the club grew
The team is governed by the Piwan Medical Centre administration, which started on 4 January 2023. It began as a small community team and has grown into a club competing in home league games, with registration in the 6th Division League in progress and an aim of joining the Uganda Premier League to help young talent prosper in football.
The club is founded
The Piwan Medical Centre administration starts Piwan Football Club as a single men's side, built around a community training programme in Gulu City.
Into the home league
The team moves from small-sided community games into organised home league fixtures, and both player performance and the standard of the team improve.
Women's and children's teams join
What started as a men's team advances into a full programme, adding both a women's team and a children's team for players aged 5 to 17.
6th Division registration
With three teams running and a media team broadcasting updates and live matches, the club works toward registration in the 6th Division League and, ultimately, the Uganda Premier League.
Introduction across Uganda
Piwan FC is working to introduce the girls' and children's team model throughout Uganda, alongside greater community involvement and local and international sponsorship.
